Lahore University of Modern Languages collaborates with our Discovery Network to hold a webinar on Deforestation
The Department of Media & Communication at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) collaborated with UNIT313 to host an impactful webinar, "Deforestation and the Urgent Need to Plant More Trees."
Our distinguished speakers from Discovery Network—Engr. Muhammad Javedan, researcher in the Sustainable Environment and Energy Systems program at Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus, and Abdul Haq , from the School of Civil Engineering, Southeast University—led an engaging discussion on the devastating effects of deforestation on climate, wildlife, and human communities. They emphasized how planting more trees is not just an environmental responsibility but an urgent necessity for the future.
This collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to contributing toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Ltd, particularly SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 17:Partnerships for the Goals. It is a proud moment for us at UNIT313 to see our network actively partnering for positive change and future sustainability.

Celebrating World Earth Day 2025
Earth Day 2025 carries the official theme "Our Power, Our Planet," highlighting the global push for renewable energy. Observed annually on 22 April, Earth Day began in 1970, founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson and student Denis Hayes to raise awareness about environmental issues, sparked by events like the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill. The first celebration mobilized 20 million Americans, and by 1990, it had become a global movement. Today, over one billion people in nearly 200 countries participate. Organizers, including EARTHDAY.ORG, say the day often marks people's first environmental action. This year, they are urging a tripling of global renewable electricity generation by 2030, echoing commitments made at COP28. While renewables like wind and solar are expanding rapidly, the International Energy Agency notes they are currently falling short of this target. Alongside the official campaign, local Earth Day activities include clean-ups of beaches, rivers, and public spaces, engaging communities worldwide.
